AICHI (TR) – Aichi Prefectural Police have arrested a male Vietnamese national over the stabbing death of a colleague at the apartment they share in Nagoya, reports the Sankei Shimbun (July 31).

At approximately 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, emergency services received an emergency call about “a man who has been cut and is bleeding from his head” outside an apartment block in the Fukumae area of Minato Ward.

Emergency personnel arriving at the scene transported Duong Van Chien, 30, who is also a Vietnamese national, to a nearby hospital where he was confirmed dead due to loss of blood about four hours later.

On Sunday, police arrested Nguyen Van Duc on charges of murder. “I regret it,” the suspect told officers from the Minato Police Station in admitting to stabbing Duong with a knife.

Just prior to the incident the suspect and victim, who live together in an apartment in the building, had attended a group dinner. The person who drove them home then found Duong and made the emergency call.
