CHIBA (TR) – China Prefectural Police have re-arrested a male Vietnamese national in the murder and robbery of a 32-year-old female acquaintance in Futtsu City three years ago, reports Jiji Press (July 27).

On November 26 and 27, 2013, Tran Dung, a 39-year-old carpenter, allegedly killed the woman, who was also a Vietnamese national living in Yokohama, and stole a cash card belonging to her. He also allegedly withdrew 600,000 yen on three occasions from ATMs at two convenience stores in Yoshikawa City, Saitama Prefecture.

Tran denies the charges, telling police that he does not recall the incident.

The woman went missing around the time that her card was stolen. Her body was found in some bushes along a national highway in Futtsu in January of last year. Police first arrested and prosecuted Tran the following month for abandoning the woman’s body.
