CHIBA (TR) – Chiba Prefectural Police have arrested a 36-year-old man in the killing of a woman at a hotel in Funabashi City, reports Nippon News Network (July 27).

Between July 25 and 26, Yoshikatsu Nagasawa, a resident of Chikusei City, Ibaraki Prefecture, allegedly killed 28-year-old Chika Utsugi.

At some point after the alleged crime on July 26, Nagasawa telephoned police to report the killing. Officers arriving at the scene and found Utsugi’s fully nude body collapsed on the floor of a room in the hotel.

An examination of the victim’s body revealed pressure marks around her neck.

The suspect, who is believed to be an acquaintance of the victim, admits to the allegations.

Police are now attempting to determine a motive for the crime.
