TOKYO (TR) – Police are searching for a man tied to alleged assault against a 75-year-old woman on Monday in Machida City.

A passerby called police saying a woman was lying on the ground who said she was “assaulted by a stranger” at around 4 a.m. on a street in the Nakamachi aream the Sankei Shimbun reports (July 25).

“A young man shoved me from behind and kicked me,” the victim told an officer who rushed to the scene.

Police said the victim suffered serious injuries including four broken ribs.

Security camera footage is being reviewed to identify the suspect, Mainichi Broadcasting System reported.

The victim left her residence to go on a walk at around 3:30 a.m. when she noticed a man walking behind her as if he was stalking her.

She told police she became suspicious and changed directions when the man started saying things like “Why are you running away?”

The suspect kicked her chest multiple times and then fled toward JR Machida Station. He was last seen wearing a short-sleeve shirt and pants.
