FUKUOKA (TR) – Fukuoka Prefectural Police have re-arrested a 42-year-old man, currently in custody on drug charges, for allegedly mutilating a woman’s corpse found inside his residence in Kitakyushu City, reports the Sankei Shimbun (July 24).

Sometime between June 5 and 13, Masashi Mihara allegedly Saiki stabbed the chest of 45-year-old Hiroe Saiki inside his residence, located in a municipal housing block in Yahatanishi Ward.

On June 13, police found the body of Saiki and that of another woman inside the residence. The second body was in an advanced stage of decomposition.

The results of an autopsy revealed that Saiki died due to shock resulting from blood loss. The cause of death of the second person is unknown.

At the time of the discovery, Mihara’s speech was incomprehensible during questioning. He was then arrested for the use of kakuseizai, or stimulant drugs, after the results of a urine analysis revealed the presence of such drugs.

Police were alerted to the residence by a man who entered the premises earlier that day and found the body of the woman.

Police are planning to arrest Mihara on murder charges.
