TOKYO (TR) – A major expressway here was closed off here on Friday night after a four-vehicle pileup left 28 people with non-life-threatening injuries.

A large truck rammed a minivan before another large truck was hit by a minibus carrying high school students on an expressway in Ome City, the Mainichi Shimbun reports (July 22).

Traffic police are investigating the cause of the collisions.

The truck smashed into the minivan which was driving on the passing lane, prompting a truck to stop before it was hit by the microbus, traffic police said.

The microbus was carrying 26 soccer players from Nihon University Senior/Junior High School of Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture.
