Chiba cops: Murder-suicide suspected after elderly man, wife found dead

CHIBA (TR) – Chiba Prefectural Police are investigating what is believed to have been a murder-suicide after the discovery of the bodies of an elderly man and wife inside the residence they share in Sakura City, reports TBS News (July 21).

At approximately 1:00 p.m. on July 20, a female acquaintance of Kazuo Tsuneizumi, 65, and his wife, Keiko, 61, informed the local fire department she had been unable to reach the couple.

Police entering the premises found Kazuo collapsed and bleeding in a bathroom of the residence, located in the Iiju area. The body of Keiko was found hanged in a bedroom. Both persons were confirmed dead at the scene.

There were no signs that the interior of the residence had been ransacked.

According to the Mainichi Shimbun (July 21), which reported that Keiko was found lying face-up on a futon, autopsies will be conducted on the bodies on July 25 to determine the causes of death.
