KANAGAWA (TR) – Kanagawa Prefectural Police have arrested a 34-year-old man in the killing of his wife inside the residence they share in Hadano City, reports the Asahi Shimbun (July 19).

At approximately 11:30 a.m. on Monday, a man telephoned police to report that he had killed his wife. Officers arriving at the residence, located in the Yayoicho area, found the body of Kei Fukawa, 34, collapsed on the floor of a first-floor bedroom.

The woman was confirmed dead at a nearby hospital about one hour later.

Police subsequently charged the woman’s husband, Haruhiko, with murder. “During a quarrel, I strangled her to death with my hands,” the suspect is quoted by police in admitting to the allegations, according to TV Asahi (July 19). “On a daily basis, our communication has gotten worse and worse.”

The couple lives in the residence with their daughter, a 7-year-old elementary school student.
