FUKUOKA (TR) – Fukuoka Prefectural Police have arrested a 40-year-old professional golfer for the possession of illegal drugs in Fukuoka City, reports the Sankei Shimbun (July 19).

At approximately 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, police found a plastic bag containing one gram of kakuseizai, or stimulant drugs, in the possession of Kentaro Yonekura, during a routine stop on a street in Hakata Ward.

“It’s a bad thing but it’s mine,” said Yonekura, who was visibly trembling, in admitting the allegations, according to TV Asahi (July 19).

Prior to the discovery, officers on a routine patrol saw a disoriented Yonekura exiting from a vehicle. During questioning, the contraband was found.

According to the Japan Golf Tour Organization, Yonekura made his professional debut in 1998. He has accumulated 3.35 million yen in earnings over his career.
