FUKUOKA (TR) – A man in Nakama City was arrested on Monday for allegedly slamming his 5-month-old baby on the floor after arguing with his wife.

Orio Station Police arrested Naoyuki Wakamatsu, 32, on abuse charges for slamming his 5-month-old baby boy on the floor in his apartment residence on Sunday at around 7:20 p.m., Nikkan Sports reports (July 18).

The baby boy was found to have no significant injuries after he was transported to a hospital. Naoyuki is denying the charges, the Sankei Shimbun reported.

Officers are probing the circumstances, acting on the belief that Naoyuki took out his frustrations on the baby after the couple had an argument while drinking, according to TV Asahi.

Wakamatsu’s wife, who is in her 30s, called police saying her husband “threw our baby at the floor.”
