TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested an Air Self-Defense Force (ASDF) officer for allegedly taking illicit pictures of a woman inside a train car, reports TV Asahi (July 14).

On July 12 at approximately 5:30 p.m., Yukifumi Fujita, a 50-year-old major at an ASDF management school in Meguro Ward, allegedly used a smartphone hidden in a bag to film up the skirt of a woman, aged in her 20s, inside a car of the JR Yamanote Line as it traveled between Shibuya and Ebisu stations.

Fujita, who has been charged with violating a public nuisance ordinance, admits to the allegations. “Being in the middle of a divorce I had accumulated stress,” the suspect was quoted by police. “I put the phone in my bag on the platform.”

Fujita was apprehended by a male passenger, aged in his 40s, after he was seen behaving suspiciously.

“It is extremely regrettable that a senior officer has been arrested,” said Kazan Ono, the chief of the management school, according to Jiji Press (July 14). “We will ensure that staff members are provided with appropriate education.”
