OSAKA (TR) – Osaka Prefectural Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of two corpses in a residence in Neyagawa City, reports TBS News (July 11).

At approximately 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, a postal delivery employee alerted police after finding a woman collapsed in a doorway of the second-floor residence, located in the Hatcho area. Police arriving at the scene then found skeletal remains covered by a futon in a bedroom.

Police suspect that the bodies are those of the woman, 80, and her husband, 92, living in the residence.

“I never saw the man but laundry was always hung out to dry,” a neighbor living below the residence is quoted.

There were no signs that the residence had been ransacked or that an intruder broke in.

Police are now attempting to confirm the identities of the bodies and determine the causes of death.
