SHIZUOKA (TR) – Following the discovery of human leg at a lake on Friday, Shizuoka Prefectural Police have announced the finding of more body parts, reports the Asahi Shimbun (July 9).

As of midday on Friday, officers had found four body parts at Okuhamana Lake in Hamamatsu City’s Kita Ward. A head and left leg were discovered on a shore at the mouth of a river; a torso with both arms attached was also found nearby.

Police were alerted to the scene at approximately 6:20 a.m., when a person reported the discovery of a right leg cut at the thigh.

An examination of the parts revealed they likely belong to the same person, a male aged over 20 and measuring at least 160 centimeters in height.

Based on the decay of the parts, the person is believed to have died between two and seven days ago. It is suspected a knife was used to dismember the person.

No personal articles, such as clothing, have been found.

Police are now seeking to identify the body and determine the cause of death.
