SHIZUOKA (TR) – Shizuoka Prefectural Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of a human foot at a lake in Hamamatsu City, reports Fuji News Network (July 8).

At approximately 6:20 a.m., a person tipped off police about the discovery of a right leg at the edge of Okuhamana Lake in Kita Ward. Officers from the Hosoe Police Station arriving at the scene found the leg in a slightly decayed state and cut at the thigh.

No personal articles, such as clothing, were found at the scene.

According to to the Asahi Shimbun (July 8), the person who informed police noticed the foot after observing a flock of crows gathered around it.

Police are treating the case as the result of an accident or foul play.
