Emergency personnel arriving at the scene found the woman unconscious and with stab wounds in approximately 10 locations of her body. She was transported to a nearby hospital where she was later confirmed dead.
At about 11:00 p.m., Kenichi Matsuzaka, a resident of Naka Ward, appeared at a police box near the crime scene and admitted to stabbing the woman. He was arrested without a warrant on charges of murder.
“I thought it was bad but I did not mean to kill her,” the suspect is quoted by police.
Police have not yet located a murder weapon.
The victim is believed to be aged in her 40s. Police are now working to confirm her identity.
