TOKYO (TR) – A Tokyo-based talent agency last week filed for bankruptcy at the Tokyo District Court after more than three decades in business, a research firm announced on Wednesday.

Teikoku Databank said on its web site that Office Junior initiated bankruptcy proceedings with 150 million yen in liabilities on June 24.

Founded in 1981, Office Junior, located in the Nishi Azabu area of Minato Ward, once boasted more than 20 actors and actresses on its roster. However, in recent years business had slumped. The company’s fortunes continued to decline following the death of its founder, Tadatsugu Sato, in December.

According to the Sankei Shimbun (June 29), recent performers with Office Junior, including actress Miki Sakai and actor Koji Matoba, have since moved to other agencies.
