Tokyo cops nab credit union employee in attack of female college student

Suspect allegedly entered the woman's apartment via the balcony and attempted to violate her sexually

TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 30-year-old credit union employee in the alleged assault of a female college student in Adachi Ward, Fuji News Network (June 29).

On June 5 at approximately 4:00 a.m., Jun Okaniwa entered the woman’s seventh floor apartment via the balcony and pinned her down on the bed. He then attempted to violate her sexually. However, he fled through the front door after she resisted.

Okaniwa denies the charges. “I absolutely didn’t do it,” the suspect is quoted by police, according to TV Asahi (June 29).

Okaniwa was identified after police examined security camera footage taken in the area
