OSAKA (TR) – Shiga Prefectural Police on Wednesday raided the office of an affiliate gang of the Yamaguchi-gumi on suspicion of bank fraud, reports the Mainichi Broadcasting System (June 29).

At 10:50 a.m., police entered the offices of the Ohara-gumi, located in Ikuno Ward, in search of evidence connected to the defrauding of a financial institution in Shiga Prefecture.

In August of 2011, Kyoshiro Hongo, a 70-year-old advisor to the Ohara-gumi, allegedly submitted false paperwork in obtaining 49 million yen in loans for an acquaintance who manages a cleaning business. Police arrested Hongo on June 25.

Hongo has declined to comment on the allegations.

Police suspect that Hongo received a portion of the funds obtained illegally.
