TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a pair of truck drivers over the alleged robbery of a discount store in Fussa City earlier this year, reports the Sankei Shimbun (June 27).

On January 2 at 11:05 p.m., Shiro Kawai, a 47-year-old resident of Saitama Prefecture, and Kiyoshi Yamada, a 40-year-old resident of Chiba Prefecture, allegedly thrust a stun gun and survival knife in front of two employees of Fussa Kumagawa outlet of Jason while demanding money. The suspects then stole approximately 1.35 million yen in cash from a safe.

Before fleeing the scene, they bound the arms of the employees with bands.

The suspects, who have been charged with robbery, admit to the allegations.

The store was closed at the time of the robbery. Police believe that the suspects entered the store via an unlocked rear door, according to TV Asahi (June 27).
