KANAGAWA (TR) – Kanagawa Prefectural Police on Monday announced the re-arrest of a 36-year-old member of the Maritime Self-Defense Forces suspected in multiple sexual assaults over the alleged rape of a middle school girl two years ago, reports the Asahi Shimbun (June 27).

In October of 2014, Nobuhiro Yamamoto, a petty officer third class at the Naval Air Facility Atsugi, allegedly called out to the girl, who was 13 at the time, on a road in Fujisawa City and brought her into a van. He then raped her.

Yamamoto, who was not acquainted with the victim, has declined to comment on the charges.

Yamamoto is already under prosecution for allegedly sexually assaulting a female university student on a road in Yokohama last October, according to TV Asahi (June 28). He is also suspected in at least one other similar case involving another female student.
