TOKYO (TR) – Investigative sources with the Tokyo Metropolitan police revealed on Friday that the dismembered corpse found this week in a park in Meguro Ward is that of a woman, reports Nippon News Network (June 25).

The results of a DNA analysis of body pieces retrieved from a lake in Himonya Park revealed the person to be female. As well, the density of the bones and the results of an analysis of the teeth indicate she was between the age of 50 and 80.

She is believed to have been up to 155 centimeters in height and died between one and three weeks ago, according to Fuji News Network (June 25).

On Friday, divers searching the lake found four more body parts, including parts of a torso, an upper arm and a right thigh bone, which had been fractured and repaired with a metal plate at some point while the woman was alive.

Police plan to use the information about the fracture and the fact that some teeth contained silver fillings to identify the person through medical records.

On Thursday, police received a tip in the morning from a visitor to the park about what appeared to be a human body part floating in the lake. Officers arriving at the scene subsequently recovered two feet, two hands, a head and part of a lower back.
