KANAGAWA (TR) – Kanagawa Prefectural Police have arrested three Nigerian nationals for allegedly selling counterfeit brand-name clothing on the internet, reports TBS News (June 16).

Police arrested Alou Chris Okoro, a 32-year-old resident of Yokohama, and his wife, 45, for the alleged sale of fake X-large clothing, such as sweatshirts, on internet auction sites.

Okoro, who has been charged with violating the Trademark Law, admits to the charges. Three other persons, including two other Nigerian nationals, were also arrested in the case.

The price of a fake item sold by the suspects was about one half that of a genuine article. In February, a sweatshirt sold for 4,980 yen.

Over a three-year period ending in March of this year, the suspects collected more than 100 million yen in sales.
