Police took Mitsuo Otsuka, the 35-year-old manager of the conversation cafe Seifuku Aisekiya, into custody for allegedly employing a 17-year-old girl to entertain customers in private rooms — a violation of the adult-entertainment law.
The parlor bills itself as a place where customers can “sit at a table with a uniformed girl resembling your younger sister who you don’t know.” According to police, a separate menu provided by the cafe provided the female employees to be taken off the premises by customers for the provision of sexual services for fees between 10,000 yen and 30,000 yen.
Otsuka admits to the allegations. “I knew the girls were providing sex,” the suspect is quoted by police, according to NHK (June 20).
Police also seized uniforms, mobile phones and notepads from the cafe.
Since opening in February, Seifuku Aisekiya has collected nine million yen in revenue. Entry fees to the cafe begin at 3,000 yen for the first 30 minutes. The cafe has about 60 girls registered on its books.
In recent years, police have been cracking down on JK (joshi kosei) school girl businesses across the nation.
