TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a male Nepalese national over the alleged rape of a woman, aged in her 20s, in Koto Ward, reports Nippon News Network (June 16).

On a late evening in April, Krishna Pokharel, 46, is alleged to have sexually assaulted the woman after she arrived at the Nepalese restaurant where he works.

Pokharel, who has been charged with rape inflicting injury, denies the charges. “I embraced the woman, but I did not (sexually assault) her,” the suspect is quoted by police.

The woman is a regular customer at the restaurant. According to TBS News (June 16), the suspect waited for a time when the victim was alone in the restaurant.

Prior to the attack, the suspect reportedly told the victim, “I’ll make you feel really good.” The assault extended over a three-hour period.

Police are now investigating whether other employees were inside the restaurant at the time of the incident.
