HYOGO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police on Tuesday raided multiple offices connected to the principal affiliate gang of the Kobe Yamaguchi-gumi organized crime group over a brawl that took place in Tokyo earlier this year, reports Fuji News Network (June 14).
At approximately 11:30 a.m., about 80 investigators entered the headquarters of the Yamaken-gumi, located in Kobe’s Chuo Ward, and five other gang-related offices in search of evidence connected to a brawl that took place on a road of an entertainment area near Takenotsuka Station in Tokyo’s Adachi Ward in the early morning hours of March 20.
On that day, police arrested Toshiyuki Abe, a 47-year-old member of the Kobe Yamaguchi-gumi, for allegedly using a beer bottle to assault multiple members of the Yamaguchi-gumi, all of whom suffered head injuries.
After the incident, other gang members fled the scene. Since then, police have arrested 10 other members of the Kobe Yamaguchi-gumi for participation in the skirmish.
The Kobe Yamaguchi-gumi formed following the dissolution of the Yamaguchi-gumi last summer. The majority of its membership is comprised of members of the Yamaken-gumi.
Police are viewing the incident as a part of an ongoing feud between the two gangs that has escalated in recent months.
