KUMAMOTO (TR) – An earthquake measuring lower 5 on Japan’s 7-point seismic intensity scale struck here at around 10 p.m. on Sunday, the first such quake since April 19.
The Japan Meteorological Agency said the roughly 4.3-magnitude earthquake’s epicenter was at a depth of around seven kilometers and there were no tsunami, the Mainichi Shimbun reports (June 13).
Authorities said there were no reports of injuries or damage to buildings.
“Seismic activity has eased compared to two months ago, but a large quake could still occur,” the JMA said.
Quakes are still being felt every day in Kumamoto Prefecture. Since the massive earthquake on April 14, there have been over 1,700 quakes with a seismic intensity of 1 or more.
