KYOTO (TR) – A man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly strolling into a convenience store naked while wearing make-up and a long wig.

Kyoto Prefectural Police arrested a 51-year-old man on indecent exposure charges for allegedly visiting a convenience store naked in Yamashina Ward, Kyoto, at 3:30 a.m. on April 26, as well as other undisclosed public locations, the Sankei Shimbun reports (June 9).

The suspect admitted to the charges, telling police that “it feels liberating to be naked, which is the natural state of the human body.”

“I’ve been appearing as a woman and walking completely naked since I graduated high school,” the suspect told police.

Police said the man wore a long wig and make-up to look like a woman and entered a convenience store naked. He reportedly glanced around the shop from the entrance and then fled.

The convenience store was empty during the man’s visit, which went unnoticed by staff.

But staff were alerted by the store’s alarm and checked security camera footage when they discovered the man.

Rumors were circulating among staff over the past two weeks about a man appearing as a woman who visited the store.
