NARA (TR) – A male stylist was arrested here on Sunday after police caught him trying to steal some nearly one million yen in cash from a beauty salon.

Nara Prefectural Police arrested hairdresser Hayato Kurihara, 30, on suspicion of breaking into and attempting to steal some 890,000 in cash from a beauty salon in Misato City, Nara Prefecture, the Sankei Shimbun reports (June 5).

A victim of the robbery told Mainichi Broadcasting System that there was “some commotion downstairs, and then I saw (Kurihara) being pinned down by a number of men.”

According to police, Kurihara smashed glass near the salon entrance and sneaked in at around 1:00 a.m. before stealing some 890,000 in cash that was stored in a plastic container.

Police said there have been a string of about 10 robberies in beauty salons across Nara Prefecture since April. Kurihara was caught trying to rob the salon while officers were tracking a wagon vehicle that was spotted at a separate incident site.
