TOKYO (TR) – A woman was arrested for sneaking into singer Masaharu Fukuyama’s apartment in Tokyo, police said on Sunday.

Tokyo Metropolitan Police arrested Mariko Miyamoto, 48, a part-time worker at the management company handling Fukuyama’s apartment in Shibuya Ward on suspicion of breaking into a residence, the Asahi Shimbun reports (May 23).

Police said Miyamoto, a concierge at Fukuyama’s apartment, admitted to the charges and said she “used a key to get in — I wanted to see Mr. Fukuyama’s guitar.”

According to authorities, Miyamoto is suspected of breaking into Fukuyama’s apartment in Shibuya without cause on May 6 at around 8:25 p.m.

Miyamoto was discovered by actress Kazue Fukiishi, Fukuyama’s 33-year-old wife, who returned home and came across the suspect inside their apartment.

Miyamoto apologized and fled the scene, but was later identified via the apartment’s security camera footage.

The management company was said to typically keep a spare key to Fukuyama’s apartment.
