Osaka cops: Woman dies after her body found floating in river

OSAKA (TR) – Osaka Prefectural Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of a woman’s body in a river in Ikuno Ward, reports the Sankei Shimbun (May 19).

At approximately 6:15 a.m. on Thursday, a male passerby found the body of a woman, believed to be aged between 60 and 70, floating face-down in the Nakagawanishi area of the Hirano River. The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital in a state of cardiac arrest but she soon after died.

The woman, measuring 153 centimeters in height, was clothed in white and blue flower-pattern shirt and black slacks. Her body did not have any external wounds.

Police are now attempting to identify the woman.
