KYOTO (TR) – Kyoto Prefectural Police busted a casino in the Gion entertainment area for offering illegal gambling, reports the Mainichi Broadcasting System (May 18).

At approximately 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, approximately 50 officers raided the parlor, located inside a multi-tenant building in the Karatohanacho area, and took Masaki Kondo, a 36-year-old dealer, and six employees into custody for providing customers with baccarat gaming.

Kondo has declined to comment on the allegations.

Investigators also confiscated three baccarat tables.

The casino, which is equipped with a double door and surveillance cameras, opened about one year ago. It is capable of accommodating a maximum of approximately 40 customers.

Police are now questioning two managers of the parlor about their possible involvement in the alleged crimes, according to Kyoto Shimbun (May 18).
