FUKUI (TR) – Fukui Prefectural Police launched an investigation following the discovery of a woman’s corpse at a lumberyard situated along a river in Tsuruga City, reports the Sankei Shimbun (May 2).

At approximately 3:45 p.m. on Monday, a prefectural employee found the body of a woman, measuring approximately 155 centimeters in height and weighing 50 kilograms, floating face-down in the yard, located in the Kushikawa area.

The body, which did not have any external injuries, was clothed in a black coat, sweater and leggings and black and white check pants.

The age of the woman is unknown. Officers from the Tsuruga Police Station suspect that she died at least two weeks ago.

The case is being treated as the result of foul play or an accident.

The lumberyard has not been used for the past two years. The prefecture inspects the facility once each month. At the time of the discovery, there was no timber in the water, according to Jiji Press (May 2).
