OSAKA (TR) – The Osaka District Public Prosecutor’s Office has filed charges of drug trafficking against a 40-year-old woman who left a large quantity of illegal drugs inside a fast-food outlet, reports the Asahi Shimbun (April 30).

On April 5, Ayumi Ueda left behind a pouch containing 50 grams of kakuseizei, or stimulant drugs, inside the bathroom of a McDonald’s outlet in Kita Ward.

Staff members at the restaurant found the bag, which also contained a syringe, and contacted the Sonezaki Police Station, according to Yomiuri Television (April 30). Ueda was apprehended after she returned to the outlet in search of the drugs, which have an estimated street value of 3.5 million yen.

Police suspected that Ueda was in the process of selling the contraband.

“I had a feeling that the bag contained stimulant drugs,” Ueda is quoted in admitting to the allegations.
