Tochigi cops: Murder-suicide suspected after 2 bodies found in home

TOCHIGI (TR) – Tochigi Prefectural Police are investigating what is believed to have been a murder-suicide following the discovery of the bodies of a woman and her bedridden mother inside the residence they share in Ashikaga City, reports Fuji News Network (April 28).

At approximately 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the eldest son of Mitsuko Fukasawa, 88, alerted police after find her body and that of his sister, 65-year-old Setsuko Yamada, on the first floor of the home, located in the Yobecho area.

Fukasawa was lying on a bed, while Yamada, who had been serving as her nurse, was collapsed nearby. Neither body had external injuries.

Police suspect that Yamada murdered her mother and then took her own life. They are also considering the possibility that she committed suicide after finding Fukasawa dead.
