TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police are looking for a man who walked off with a carcass of a sheep from a Mongolian restaurant in the Akasaka entertainment area of Minato Ward, reports Fuji News Network (April 11).

The restaurant has uploaded security camera footage to its Web site that shows a man in a blue jacket raising the 28-kilogram body of the animal, which was wrapped in a tarp, to his shoulder at the entrance of the restaurant and leaving the premises on Saturday morning at approximately 9:30 a.m.

The carcass, valued at approximately 19,000 yen, was later found discarded on a street about 300 meters from the restaurant.

The sheep was to be featured at a party for 30 people scheduled for that same day. It was subsequently cancelled due to health concerns.

“I’ve been running this restaurant for 15 years, and this is the first time this kind of thing has happened,” the manager of the shop is quoted. “We really do not want this kind of troublesome thing to take place.”

Police are seeking the whereabouts of the man to question him on suspicion of theft.
