MIYAGI (TR) – Miyagi Prefectural Police have arrested a 41-year-old woman in the death of her disabled mother in the town of Kami, reports Nippon News Network (April 6).
Sometime between April 3 and 4, Yumiko Sato allegedly abandoned the body of her mother, Fumiko, 65, slumped in her wheelchair inside the residence they share.
The whereabouts of the suspect became unknown beginning on April 4. However, she was apprehended on the following day. She has admitted to the allegations.
The results of an autopsy revealed that the woman died due to suffocation.
Police are now seeking a motive for the crime.
