TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 30-year-old male American for possession of an illicit video featuring an underage girl, reports TBS News (Mar. 14).
Police accused Alex Zelikow, a former employee of NHK, of possessing a video shot with a hidden camera that shows him engaging in sex inside his apartment in Minato Ward with the girl, who was 17 years old at the time, on his personal computer.
In 2013, police found the clip, which was shot in August of the year before, during a search of the suspect’s residence. He fled the country sometime thereafter.
On Sunday, police arrested Zelikow after he returned to Japan as a tourist for violations of child pornography and prostitution laws.
According to Nippon News Network (Mar. 14), the suspect met the girl on the Internet under the premise of providing her English lessons.
At the time of the incident, Zelikow was a reporter for NHK.
