TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a nursery school employee in Kita Ward on suspicion of abusing a 6-year-old boy, reports Nippon News Network (Jan. 27).

At approximately 1:40 p.m. on January 15, Manami Nanmoku, a 28-year-old teacher at Haiku Room Kids Style Akabane-en, allegedly bound the hands of the boy and removed adhesive tape that she had put over his mouth and eyes.

Nanmoku, who has been charged with assault, denies the allegations, telling police that she does not know anything about the incident.

The parents of the boy contacted police after the boy told them about the incident.

Police have also heard from eyewitnesses who have said that the suspect has abused other children in the past.

Nanmoku has been employed at the nursery since it opened in July of 2012, according to the Sankei Shimbun (Jan. 27).
