HYOGO (TR) – Hyogo Prefectural Police on Friday announced the arrest of six male and female students who attacked a man during a scheme involving a false rape accusation, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Dec. 18).

At around 12:00 a.m. December 13, a 15-year-old girl met a 30-year-old male office worker from Osaka’s Yodogawa Ward at a convenience store in Kobe after they had communicated on the dating site Happy Mail. The pair then used the man’s car to visit a nearby park in Nishinomiyahama.

After they sat down on a bench, five boys, aged between 16 and 18, approached the couple and screamed, “Rape!” The group then assaulted the man and robbed him of 10,000 yen. Several hours later, the boys used the man’s car to travel another convenience store where an additional 100,000 yen was taken.

The man suffered minor injuries to his head.

Four of the boys and the girl, who have been charged with robbery and assault, admit to the allegations. The fifth boy denies the charges, telling police that he was only present at the scene of the crime.

In November, executives of the management company of Happy Mail were arrested for fostering prostitution.
