GIFU (TR) – A sightseeing organization in Minokamo City has revoked a promotional poster featuring a racy anime character following criticisms of sexual harassment, reports the Asahi Shimbun (Dec. 1).

The campaign poster, which features big-breasted Kocho Yoshida from the anime “Nourin” in a very low-cut suit, was terminated over the weekend by the Minokamo Kanko organization. A representative of organization said people lodging complaints about the poster’s design found it to be “stimulating.”

The campaign began on November 7. A tweet on the organization’s Twitter account (@minokamo_kanko) three days earlier showed a preview of the poster.

“Nourin” is based on a novel series by author Shirow Shiratori. The series is about a male student at an agricultural high school located in Minokamo who attempts to win the heart of a newly enrolled former idol.

The intention of the poster is attract fans of the anime to visit a number of locations in the city and collect prizes. But after the poster was made public, numerous complaints were registered, including from those who found the poster uncomfortable for women and a form of sexual harassment if it were to appear at a company.

The poster is the fourth time that a “Nourin” character has been used for such a purpose by the organization since September of last year.

On November 29, a copy of the poster featuring Kocho Yoshida was removed from inside Minokamo’s JR Mino-Ota Station.

“We did not think there would be such an uproar,” the aforementioned representative of Minokamo Kanko is quoted.
