TOTTORI (TR) – Tottori Prefectural Police on Wednesday announced the arrest of a 29-year-old fireman in Yonago City for sexually violating an elementary school girl, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Oct. 21).
On August 21, Hiroshi Mashima, an assistant sergeant at the Yonaga Fire Station, is alleged to have performed obscene acts with the girl, 11, inside a hotel room.
Mashima has admitted to the allegations. “I knew she was under 18 years of age,” the suspect is quoted by police.
The suspect and victim became acquainted via a smartphone matchmaking application.
The matter came to light after a guardian of the girl consulted with police.
