Tokyo police raid illegal pachinko parlor in Shibuya

TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police on Tuesday announced the raid of a pachinko parlor operating illegally in Shibuya Ward, reports TBS News (Oct. 6).

On Sunday, police busted parlor , located in the Dogenzaka area, and took Yuto Maruyama, the 27-year-old manager, and one other employee into custody for allowing customers to wager on 31 high-return pachisuro (pachinko slot) machines considered to be in violation of the law and a baccarat gaming machine.

Maruyama admits to the allegations.

Officers also arrested five male customers present at the time of the raid.

An special security system was used to identify customers entering the premises.

The operation had collected 10 million yen in revenue since August of last year.
