CHIBA (TR) – Chiba Prefectural Police on Wednesday busted a hostess club in Chiba City for licensing violations, with the business being a source of revenue for organized crime, reports TBS News (Sep. 2).

Between March and August, Taichi Kosaka, the 34-year old manager of bar Galpia, located in Chuo Ward, and one other staff member are accused of employing hostesses to entertain customers, a service classified under the adult-entertainment law, while being licensed as a drinking establishment.

Both suspects have admitted to the allegations. “I wanted to show a small profit,” Kosaka is quoted by police, according to TBS News (Sep. 2).

During a raid of the property that began on Tuesday night, police seized more than two million yen from a safe.

Police suspect that the management of Galpia is overseen by a member of the Yamaguchi-gumi, which receives a portion of the bar’s revenue.

According to the Galpia Web site, charges to enter the bar begin at 2,000 yen for the first hour.
