TOYAMA (TR) – Toyama Prefectural Police on Tuesday arrested a 56-year-old woman for allegedly dumping the body of her father outside their home in Takaoka City. Investigators are now working to apply murder charges, reports the Asahi Shimbun (Aug. 26).

At approximately 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Hiromi Kawabuchi, a company employee, arrived at a police box near her home and told officers that earlier this month she had killed her father, 84-year-old Saburo Kawabuchi, and buried his body.

A search of the garden at the suspect’s residence by investigators revealed the clothed body of the elder Kawabuchi lying face down beneath a thick layer of concrete. There were no visible wounds on the corpse.

“I did it because he found out that I was stealing his pension money,” the suspect is quoted by police, according to TV Asahi (Aug. 26).

Kawabuchi had been living with her father for the past few years.
