OSAKA (TR) – Osaka Prefectural Police on Monday arrested a male employee of a company associated with West Japan Railway (JR) for repeatedly molesting the same woman inside one of the railway’s trains, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Aug. 10).

Over a one-month period beginning on July 6, Yudai Ono, a 34-year-old employee of West Japan Railway Techos, located in Amagasaki City, Hyogo Prefecture, is alleged to have fondled the buttocks of the woman, an office worker in her 20s, on six occasions inside the JR Tokaido Line.

Ono, who has been charged with violating of a public nuisance ordinance, admits to the allegations. “Since she did not show any resistance that first time in July, I continued to molest her,” the suspect is quoted by police.

On the morning of August 3, the woman photographed the man as the train traveled between Amagasaki and Tsukamoto stations. The photograph was used to eventually apprehend Ono.

“We are confirming all the facts in the case,” a representative of West Japan Railway Technos is quoted, according to Jiji Press (Aug. 10), “but an arrest is truly regrettable.”
