HYOGO (TR) – Hyogo Prefectural Police on Friday arrested two former organized crime members for involvement in an explosion outside a gang headquarters in Kobe five years ago, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Aug. 7).

Police arrested Akio Sasaki, 56, and his brother Hiromi, 59, on charges of destruction of property and violating explosives regulations.

Both suspects have denied the allegations.

Early on November 1, 2010, a grenade was detonated in the street outside the headquarters of the Yamaken-gumi in Chuo Ward.

The blast destroyed a door, damaged building exteriors and shattered windows of residences nearby. A small metal cylinder used in the explosion was discovered across the street from the headquarters.
