Tokyo man accused in series of skirt-cutting incidents inside trains

TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police on Monday arrested a 24-year-old male suspected in a series incidents in which he slashed the skirts of female passengers inside train cars, reports TBS News (Aug. 3).

On Monday morning at approximately 8:00 a.m., Kazuki Imaeda is alleged to have used scissors to cut a five-centimeter-long opening in the skirt of a 23-year-old government worker riding inside the JR Yamanote Line between Ikebukuro and Mejiro stations.

Imaeda has reportedly admitted to the allegations. “I did it due to the accumulation of various forms of stress,” the suspect is quoted by police.

Police suspect that Imaeda was involved in approximately 30 other incidents that took place inside trains in Tokyo and Saitama Prefecture between April and July.
