WAKAYAMA (TR) – Wakayama Prefectural Police on Saturday arrested a 64-year-old man from Osaka after the body of a woman was found in a car parked in front of a love hotel in Gobo City, reports the Asahi Shimbun (July 26).

Police accused Norio Kikumi of abandoning the corpse of a woman who is believed to be the 48-year-old manager of a “snack” hostess club located in Osaka’s Ikuno Ward. The manager had gone missing earlier this month.

The body was slumped in the passenger seat and covered with a cardboard box. Police are now attempting to confirm that the body is indeed that of the manager.

Kikumi has hinted at involvement in the crime, telling police that he propped the corpse up in the passenger seat, according to the Nikkei Shimbun (July 26).

At approximately 10:00 p.m on the night of July 17, Kikumi visited the bar and departed with the manager a few hours later.

When he could not contact his wife on July 18, the husband of the manager contacted police to report her missing.

Police suspect the body was abandoned in the car on July 24 or 25.
