OSAKA (TR) – Osaka Prefectural Police on Sunday arrested the 24-year-old boyfriend of a woman found stabbed to death in Chuo Ward, reports the Sankei Shimbun (July 12).
Officers took Ryoma Sumida into custody for the stabbing death of Yuki Kojima, 21, who was found face down and bleeding on the floor of the suspect’s apartment in the Kozu area of Chuo Ward by a male acquaintance on Saturday morning.
The victim had sustained multiple stab wounds to her neck. After police arrived at the scene, she was transported to a nearby hospital, and was confirmed dead due to loss of blood approximately 30 minutes after arrival.
Sumida has reportedly admitted to the allegations, telling police that he stabbed the woman because she said wanted to end their relationship.
The victim’s mother came from Chiba Prefecture to confirm the identity of Kojima on Sunday.
The acquaintance had accompanied Kojima to the apartment. After she entered through the door by herself, the acquaintance heard a scream. He then climbed into the residence via the balcony of an adjacent apartment and made the grisly discovery.
