NARA (TR) – Nara Prefectural Police on Saturday evening raided a hostess club claiming to be a bar for licensing violations, reports the Sankei Shimbun (July 11).
Officers searched Girl’s Bar Lip, located in the Sanjomachi area, for allegedly operating a fuzoku (sex-related) business without a license under the Law Regulating Adult Entertainment Businesses between March 13 and June 15. By the following morning, police had arrested a total of six suspects, including two managers and four employees.
One 32-year-old manager denied the allegations, telling police that Girl’s Bar Lip was registered as an eating and drinking establishment. “I did not consider permission under the adult-entertainment law as necessary,” the suspect is quoted by police.
The club was also charged with employing two minors (both 17 years of age) as hostesses, which is a violation under the same law.
